Silvio Nardi bought the estate in 1950 at Casale del Bosco; since 1985 it has been run by his youngest daughter, Emilia.
The estate’s vineyards are situated between 140 and 420 metres above sea level: some extend north-west of Montalcino on the hills around Casale del Bosco, while others are located in the south-east at Manachiara, where the precious cru of the same name originates.

Soil: Generally composed of clayey substrates with sandy and muddy intercalations. On the terraces near Casale del Bosco, which are probably of fluvial and tectonic origin, there are shallow but cool bare soils. In the area of Manachiara the soils lay on top of clays and siltstone-marl with calcareous intercalations and sands rich in quartz. The lands are not very deep but are well-structured with medium inclines and weak erosion.

Eric Guido, November 2023 Darkly alluring and rich in the glass, the 2019 Brunello di Montalcino Vigneto Poggio Doria opens with a blend of rosemary and sage, giving way to steeped plums, dark chocolate and spiced orange. This is silky, nearly creamy in feel, with brisk acidity balancing out its core of tart wild berry fruit. The 2019 finishes structured and long with a bitter tinge and aggressive wood tannins penetrating deeply. The Vigneto Poggio Doria spends twelve months in a combination of new and used tonneaux, followed by another twelve months in Slavonian oak barrels before bottling. It will require serious patience to allow this to mellow."

Eric Guido, November 2023 The 2021 Rosso di Montalcino opens with a dark and herbal-tinged mix of musky wild berries and cedar shavings. It’s pleasantly sweet upon entry, with cooling acidity and ripe red and blue fruits that swirl throughout. This tapers off long and staining, leaving a licorice tinge and hints of blackberry preserve that slowly fade. The 2021 takes the taster on a journey, starting like a whisper but gaining volume and momentum toward the close. The end result is quite pleasurable."
